There is this step in between called glass or stainless refillable water bottles OP. I find them to be the best solution and most can be washed in the dishwasher if they aren't insulated. Win win.
I did try the steel one that looks like an elegant bottle. Can’t recall the name. It was too big and heavy. And I have no need for insulated, I like my water room temperature. I also had the same bacteria concerns.
Get a glass Life Factory bottle. I have two and rotate one in the dishwasher every day. It's glass and doesn't make the water taste disgusting like plastic does. https://www.amazon.com/Lifefactory-22-Ounce-Active-Glass-Bottle/dp/B08LNZC9WV/ref=asc_df_B08LNZC9WV/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=475795030298&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=3109515867253261292&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9061285&hvtargid=pla-1041015284120&psc=1
