Between 2019 and 2021, MCPS lost 7.2% (5,489) of all MCPS Elementary School students and 3.5% (1,330) of all MCPS Middle School Students and only a handful of High School students (< 0.2%).

Three Special Program schools had a significant enrollment drop:
John L Gildner Regional Institute for Children & Adolesents lost 10 students (8.9%)
*Rock Terrace School lost 14 students (15.2%)
Stephen Knolls School lost 20 students (26.3%)

Between 2019 and 2020, two schools were shut down (Alternative Programs with 126 students and MCPS Transitions School with 55 students).

Between 2019 and 2021, this is how the Elementary Schools stack up in terms of overall student body loss.  Schools that gained students are towards the bottom of the list.

Since Forest Knolls ES (in Silver Spring) had such a significant drop, I took a closer look at it to ensure the calculations were correct.  Forest Knolls ES dropped from 785 students in 2019 all the way down to 483 in 2021.  All 39 Asian students pulled out of Forest Knolls ES in 2020, and only 25 returned in 2021:
