Teachers become teachers because they love the career of teaching, not to make money. Doesn't make them not "smart MCPS graduates." If people didn't follow their passion and just focused on money, there would be no teachers. [/quote]

Sure, but we shouldn’t undervalue them simply because they have service-oriented hearts. What they do is important to our society and it takes a lot of skill and knowledge to do it well. Why shouldn’t we pay them accordingly?[/quote]

When you factor things like retirement int their 50s with a decent pension and only having to work less than 180 days per year the pay doesn't seem that bad.[/quote]
