Your comment about seeing the counselor later this year has me confused. This should already be done. What schools have you visited and liked? Is there any financial restrictions?
OP again. Of course, DC has already met with the college counselor at school and has discussed some college options. TBH the conversation with the college counselor apparently had a "soft-focus" feel to it. Perhaps this is because DC is not an ultra top student (3.95 + GPA, for whom super top schools are very likely) nor in the GPA range where T20 schools/lower Ivies etc are completely out of the realm of possibility. Further, counselor admitted to some further degree fo lack of clarity given test optionality, changing landscape of college admissions etc and the resulting fuzziness around all this that has developed over the last two years. Asking DCUMers now bc DC is finally armed with the Junior year GPA and SAT score. Unfortunately, DC is not too clear about preference re location/type of Univ etc (and this undoubtedly made the counselors job in advising DC difficult too). And thanks to other rising senior parents for reminding me of the urgency of stuff that needs to get done over the summer!! Close to a minor panic right now!
