I am always surprised how many teachers on back to school night announce that they were MCPS students. I guess some do come back.
The pay for MCPS employees is not a livable wage in Montgomery County. Affluent families recognize this and do not encourage their children to pursue a career in education, especially if they are paying a lot of money on top tier universities. Given the steep decline in standards and rigor of the MCPS curriculum in addition to the difficulties attracting talented teachers will only strengthen the trend of MCPS graduates turning to private schools or other districts to educate their children. Know your audience is an important concept in public speaking. Harris definitely demonstrated she is tone deaf to the communities she was speaking to.
