OP here. What is a hospital grade pump? I have a Spectra S1 still in the box. Will that work? How often do I need to pump and what supplements should I take? My supply hasn’t fully dried up but it’s definitely decreased I’ve the past week.
I found the S1 better than the pump I rented from the hospital (Ameda). I would also try nursing your baby. Women get much better letdown with a baby than a pump. Early on my baby wasn’t good at transferring milk. But I found I got much more milk pumping one side while she was latched to the other than I did with double pumping without baby. Everyone is different but I would not just exclusively pump to get supply going but also nurse with baby since oxytocin release will be better with baby. (Many people don’t respond to a pump as well as to one‘s baby that can be one reason it is hard to pump what a baby needs after going back to work.)
