I wouldn't fly Spirit if you gave me the flight for free. Google the news stories about Spirit having system wide shut downs and how passengers were stuck for a week. There were fights at the customer service counters and customer service reps walked off the job. How much is your time and sanity worth? Nuff said!
Has happened with every airline
But other airlines have reciprocity with their competitors. Spirit is not one of them. Your two options are stay put until they book you to get out or pay a lot of money to get a last -minute one-way ticket to your destination.
Which airline has this reciprocity you speak of? We’ve had horrible experiences with united and American and they certainly didn’t offer to book on competitors flights.
A lot do. I had an American flight go mechanical failure so I asked to be put on the United flight to Dulles instead of DCA, and they endorsed the ticket and got us on for no charge. Also had Air Canada put me on United with a mech failure, and Air China put me on Air Canada when their delay caused a missed connection.
