[/quote] The attitude I don't like (my kid is not quite there yet but they've been working to get people used to this idea for years already) is that you have to surrender the process to the college counseling people, and follow their advice about where to apply, because when they write you a recommendation they they consider the fit of the school, and so they're not necessarily sending the same recommendation to each place you apply. Which to me sounds like a threat to torpedo your kid's application if it's not something they approve of. [/quote]
