One thing to consider, OP, is that teachers matter, and there are good teachers at every school. DD is advanced and her teachers have given her more advanced writing assignments, and I'm sure many teachers would do the same if your kid asks for it. But still, it's not like middle school teachers are sitting down one-on one with your kid to go over their weekly writing assignment that is grounded in rigorous content and giving quality critiques. You might get that in high school though. [/quote]
