If you don’t mind sharing, where did your kid end up? My DC (with similar stats to OP) got into Lafayette for Environmental Studies without merit. We are trying to decide what to do. [/quote]

Sewanee and did get some merit aid.  Merit aid was a factor.     Our kid also thought the 13k acre campus would be good for environmental studies,  would prefer to settle in southeast after school, etc.....  It turned out to be a good fit for our kid.  We liked Lafayette a lot though. [/quote]

I wish I had talked to my DD about Sewanee. I was worried it was too remote but I've heard a lot of great things about it. I'm not sure we can justify the extra $110k for Lafayette (and Bucknell) so I think my DD has narrowed down her options to Denison and Rollins. DD is disappointed but I think once she's in school, she won't look back (hopefully).
