We were adamant about no video games until my 2nd grade boy said he felt like an outcast. We started allowing Minecraft and only on weekends with the express warning that if he ever didn’t want to play outside or read in favor of video games that the privilege would be taken away. It also limited his other screen time. I wish they video games didn’t exist. But they do. Such a fricking waste of time.
Np. So tell me everything you do is productive every single moment of the day? I hate people with your attitude. You don't waych tv, movies go to shows? Video games are fun and with family and friends it definitely is not a waste of time.
Children’s brains are not like adult brains. To compare a child’s activities to an adults is patently ridiculous.
+1. Children are not small adults in any way but most especially in brain development.
The pp should hold herself the same high standard that she has for her kids. No wasting time for them!
NP here. You missed the point. NP here.
I am making another point. Yes, kids brains are different but there is nothing wrong about letting a kid relax and play some video games. Op should hold herself to ths same standard. They like watching the Crown? What a waste of time!
Your “point” makes zero sense. As with most parents, I know I hold myself to a much higher standard than my kids. They get downtime (as do I) but their brains are still forming and something like video games is not relaxing or downtime to them. My kids entire life is learning and playing. I don’t get to play.
Maybe if you did play games you would get it!
How old are you?
NP but 51. I play video games and board games. I make time to exercise. I read. I work full time, volunteer with Scouts, take DS to events, and fine time to hang and play with DS and DH. It is called balance. I also play board games and video games with DS, we have a lot of fun playing together.
You don’t have a still-forming brain. You can play as many video games as you want. We’re talking about young elementary school kids.
