I get that some people are (rightly!!) upset with the administration re: SD location moving and the bus situation, but can anyone speak to how it's been for their children? How are academics? Are your kids happy at LAMB? Are they learning? Are they enjoying school? What is teacher turnover like, etc? Thanks!
The teachers are the only reason we stay, but honestly....my kids don't profess happiness at the school. The only assessments I have of my children improving are in reading, Spanish, and math. In reading and Spanish, yes, the kids are improving. In math, no, they are not. I wouldn't call it a welcoming or joyful place. The opposite, in fact. Of course, as a parent I haven't been allowed in the school for the past two school years so who knows what's actually happening. Teacher turnover: I don't know what it is overall (I think that's in the school report card data?) but we've had one teacher leave mid-year last year (right at the time that vaccines were required, so who knows). Also, the SD location lies are not the only thing that the admin has misled people on. The most pronounced issue is what they did through the school closures. They would say one thing, then change it with no explanation, repeatedly. We were constantly jerked around. Right now they keep talking about sending out updated guidance about masks (we still have indoor masking), but every week they say they'll report something and then don't. This kind of communication is pretty standard for LAMB. It seems to either be incompetence or a deliberate choice to see if they can just gain acceptance through exhaustion.
