I think the risk of life-threatening complications for me, a healthy 36yo, is less than the risk of getting into an accident on the beltway.  And of course it's wise to go with an experienced surgeon with a good track record.  But to address the crux of your question -- yes, I did take a physical risk for aesthetic reasons.  I just didn't, and couldn't, feel happy with the body I had.  I guess I'm not as strong as some.  I feel a lot better about my body now, and it's making me want to be a healthier, more fit person. Not sure I understand this.  I suppose societal standards of beauty probably contributed in part to my desire to have the surgery, but i think I would have felt the same way even if I lacked the money to get the surgery.[/quote]
