I’ve always had dogs. There were periods of our lives that 10 hours was the norm. Never a problem. Now with older kids, they get home mid day so it’s less hours. One thing I’ve noticed when I work from home is this. If I am busy or have meetings where I don’t want to be interrupted, i crate the dogs. They literally sleep non stop until I go to get them out. Even with me being in the house where they can hear me they are content. I don’t like long days of crates but I love my dogs so much and can’t imagine life without them.
Same. Singleton with 2 dogs. When I’m home on weekends, they sleep all day when given roam of the house.
Sleeping when they can roam the house and sleeping all day in a crate because there is nothing else they can do are two very different things. Do you think sleeping all weekend because you feel like it is the same as sleeping all day because you're in solitary confinement and your choice is sleeping or bashing your head against the wall? Crating a dog for 10 hours a day is abusive.
