I went from 130 in October to ~112 since October after many years of wanting to lose 10 lbs. I’ve never been a breakfast person (I eat lunch and dinner) or a sugary drinks or dessert person so there was no low-hanging fruit to cut out. This is what helped me: - Don’t cut out any food groups/snacks/things you like to eat. It will cause cravings. Cut the portion size (by a lot) instead. - Drink lots of water. I discovered I’ll drink way more water if it’s warm, so I keep a thermos with me all day. The water fills you up and prevents you from getting as hungry. You can also do this with unsweetened tea (I like mint). - Try eating on a strict schedule, especially if you’re WFH. I eat lunch at noon and dinner at 6. If I eat at these times, I’m not tempted to snack. - Cut out all the little snacks/bites you take throughout the day, if any. No grabbing a piece of cheese, a bite of ice cream from the freezer, etc. Eat at mealtimes only. - Find something relatively satisfying but low-calorie that you like eating for lunch. For me, it’s a piece of toast (90) with a wedge of light Laughing Cow cheese (35) spread on it topped with a few slices of lox (50) and capers (0). I sometimes have a clementine on the side. I eat this most days - I like it and I don’t need to think about it. This also gives you a good calorie allowance for dinner. - Remember it’s strictly a matter of calories in, calories out. I’m short so I stick to 1200/day. I have found that when I eat mindfully, I’m not hungry on this. It’s really truly all about what you’re consuming. I have always walked about 10,000 steps a day (no other exercise) and that hasn’t changed, so I really lost the weight through my diet. Also, just cut your portions in half - I eat everything I like, but now eat half a burger instead of a full one, half the rice I normally would with a stir fry, etc. You’ll might be hungry for a few days but you adjust quickly. Have a glass of wine or a beer but just one instead of multiple. This has really made a difference for me without making me feel deprived. If you’re a volume eater, fill out the rest of your plate with steamed or roasted veggies. Roasted veggies with oil spray in the air fryer are delicious, and I try to make those at least half my dinner every day.
I’m short and want to get to 112lbs. I’m like damn how is she not starving only eating that much? Ah no exercising and just walking! I exercise at least five times/week lifting weights and I think I would be so hungry at 1200. Exercise is a stress reliever for me. But at 5’1” and 118-120, I don’t look good.
