I think it's all according to what you were used to and how you were raised. Many white people (especially WASPs) were brought up in homes where dramatic expression of emotion was discouraged as impolite or undignified, so when we hear women being loud and confrontational we are afraid the proverbial shit is about to hit the fan! For he record, I've found that many of my white friends from other ethnic backgrounds (e.g., Jewish, Italian) are more comfortable with confrontation than I am. [/quote]

This is 100% correct. I'm Italian American and love a good fight/confrontation. I was the go-to girl in college for my WASP friends who needed an "enforcer" to call the cable company when they were getting ripped off, to complain about service to a retail manager, etc.

I wonder if that's why a lot of white women are so passive-aggressive? Without an outlet for their upset feelings (or an ethnic friend to help them get recompense), are they just brewing with anger over any slights they encounter...?[/quote]
