Student debt relief is highly regressive as higher income families are more likely to borrow and to borrow more than lower income families. Why not use those funds to subsidize the education or debts of lower income households? Why do I need to subsidize your bad decision making when this same $ could go to those who truly need it? This is just latte liberal policies.
I have yet to see a progressive address this point.
Progressives routinely use the language of injustice and equity to further their own personal self-interests.
“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.” ― C. S. Lewis
Umm... progressives want to educate you and not be educated by you.
What progressives don't realize is that quite often we don't need you to educate us, thank you very much. We'd like to be left alone and not have progressives shriek like mad harridans at how morally awful we are for disagreeing with you and getting in the way of your beloved "right side of history" vision.
I have yet to meet a single conservative who actually wants people who aren’t like them to be able to live their own lives. Atheist? Gay? Trans? Pregnant and you don’t wanna be? Drug user not hurting anyone? Always an exception for the “small government” rule when it comes to people living a lifestyle they don’t approve of. Yet don’t you dare sniff around their poorly-secured arsenals, their churches full of molesters, and the ignorance they force on their children. They want the government to help them live their lives, and help them exploit everyone else. They demand privilege. In the old days they brought in the sheriffs to recover their slave property, and today they are passing laws to prevent people from controlling their own reproductive health and to bust unions. Conservatives haven’t done a single thing right in this country since it’s founding. Not a single thing.
