OP here, and in response to pp questions- our school has had a few isolated cases over the last few months but no major outbreaks, or anything out of the ordinary. It is a preschool where the school year ends in June rather than a year round daycare so I doubt they would be able to fill our slot at this point (nor do I really want to have to find a new program.) I’m just frustrated and baffled as to why they would put in this new requirement right now when everyone else is loosening restrictions.
They are probably putting it in place *because* everyone is loosening restrictions. The most recent Omicron wave laid a lot of triple vaxxed folks out, myself included. I wouldn’t fault them for adopting a more conservative policy for their unvaxxed charges while they wait to see if there’s going to be a bump in cases from loosening requirements just as another variant looks poised to takeover. The good news is that rapid tests are free, easy to get, and easy to administer. But no, your contract probably doesn’t give you an out at this point.
