I enjoy while watching, but I'm not invested in any of the characters. I never have been. I spend the episode admiring the stylish sets and wardrobe, theatre-esque staging, and snappy dialogue, but I don't feel anything. When it's over, I forget about it.
And to add-- This is in contrast to Gilmore Girls, where Daniel and Amy Sherman Palladian created a show with those same characteristics but you also cared about the characters (even the--many-- annoying ones).
Oh my gosh it’s the exact opposite for me. I am much more invested in the maisel characters, and really disliked the characters in Gilmore girls. They were annoyingly perfect and arrogant. But maybe I just relate more to maisel because I’m Jewish and feel represented. The humor is spot on.
Will also add that I found every secondary character in Gilmore girls annoying. I think I only liked Emily, and maybe dean. The rest of the people in stars hollow were incredibly annoying, one dimensional and seemed like they were on happy pills or some other drugged out existence.
