I've seen several polls showing that the majority of Americans support mask and vaccine mandates for various activities and places. News coverage and social media amplify the people opposed, but it seems like a lot of people support the mandates, even if they aren't screaming about it.
My guess is many respondents know they either won't be subject to these requirements or when they are it is for very short periods of time. I feel like these questions tell you more about what adults want other people do to than what they want to do. IME most adults are more than happy to take off their own masks the minute the rules allow it.
Your guess would likely be wrong, as the lists I've seen included stuff like taking domestic flights, schools, eating in restaurants, attending concerts, etc., so it seems like things that people would expect to do. And I know a lot of people who can't wait to ditch the masks but want vaccine mandates in their place.
I'll give you domestic flights and concerts. Schools apply to people's children, not themselves. If you have ever eaten indoors at a restaurant you know people have masks off as soon as they sit down so clearly they are referring to the staff. Not sure why you bring up vaccine mandates but I have no problem with them personally. Though there is a reason cities that have used them have gotten rid of them.
Also people aren't on domestic flights for 6 hours every day and they definitely aren't at concerts every day. It's one thing to say you want people to wear masks in the one crowded setting you will be in for a few hours on one day, it's another to say you support masking when you have to mask for most of your waking hours most of the week.
Before covid, we went to concerts a few times a month during the summer... now its a hard no, but many are engaging in risky behavior like indoor dining and travel.
