Location is one factor. Kids these days prefer schools in the cities. 
It's right in the middle of Boston but also has a nice campus unlike some of its peers such as Boston University or NYU which are also gaining popularity.  
Coop program which leads to great job placement.  
NEU ranks pretty high on all kinds of job placement and salary rankings. 
It has a good balance of all the right ingredients.

For those reasons, the script says it reached a milestone a little while ago that if you have two choices between Northeastern vs Boston University, more students choose Northeastern now.
