We stayed at our resort and I never once thought about safety other than from Covid, which is a separate issue. But I would not have gone to any of the tourist bars or night clubs, nor would we have let the young adults with us.  My nephew walked down the beach a ways, and there were armed guards at the entrance of each resort resort, although we didn’t see them where we were. So the only way for there to be drug gang trouble at a resort would be the JetSki trick again, which feels low risk.

As far as Covid, our resort did what it could, but the main restaurant was inside so there was definitely some exposure risk.[/quote]
