I think what people don't realize is the (maybe not so?) silent majority of MoCo, unlike probably most everywhere else in the US, is strongly Covid-cautious and supports masking, distancing, and closures. For whatever reason that's the culture here and Elrich is their guy. As a 70 year old obese diabetic it makes sense for him, but I know lots of people in their 20s and 30s that wear masks constantly and are limiting gatherings. Its a different world.
This is a very good point. And tbh, I was in that MoCo bubble for a long time as well, and its not until you spend sometime outside that MoCo bubble (which Covid allowed us to do), that you realize just how different MoCo is from almost anywhere else in the country. To almost everybody outside of MoCo, Elrich would seem like a nut. But in MoCo, his views align with a large portion of the population. At the end of the day, I think he'll get a second term. But it'll be close. And it will, once again, be due in part to those opposing him split their votes amongst the other candidates Remember how Trump won the nomination because none of the other dummies would drop out? That's what's going to happen again with Elrich
