People like you is why I pulled my kid from ACPS this year in part because of its poor COVID mitigation approach.  Otherwise, I would have to do everything I could to fight your “fight to death” in favor of extreme selfishness and putting your child, your child’s classmates and teachers, and the community at large at risk.[/quote]

For heaven's sake.  You are arguing over sending a kid in with a cloth mask versus an N95 mask?  Are you one of those nutters who has been holed up in their homes for the past 22 months? No, I have not been holed up in my house but I also have not acted like the pandemic does not exist or is over.  Yes, I would fight over K95s for student (or at least a surgical mask.  This is based on the higher transmissibility of the Omicron, the better understanding of the limitations in value of cloth masks, and the much higher availability of K95s (or at least surgical masks) than at beginning of the pandemic (the scarcity drove the recommendation of cloth masks at the beginning of the pandemic.   My child’s current school is requiring N95s/K95s or a three ply surgical mask and I am happy with that requirement.  It is nice to see ACPS actually reacting to Omicron.

I would be fine with the requirement of paper surgical masks.  But surely you realize that those are not very effective against Omicron either?  So, at this point, it is all just for appearances' sake.  If you have not been holed up in your house for 2 years, then you have contributed to the spread of the virus yourself. Since neither I nor any of my immediate family have contracted Covid (knock on wood) I am not sure how I have contributed to the spread of the virus.

I have done my best to follow the governmental and scientific advice/requirements and try to follow the news on the pandemic developments and understanding of Covid.  If that makes me holler than thou,” than so be it.

How do you know that you (or any of your family members) never contracted Covid?  Did you all undergo weekly testing?  Think of all the asymptomatic cases.[/quote]

Fine.  Am I absolutely certain that my immediate family has not contracted Covid? No.

But, the times where any of us have either experienced colds or were in proximity to someone covid positive, we have been tested and have been negative for each test.  In Alexandria, the Curative booth at Charles Houston is a pretty convenient  place to get a PCR test with relatively quick results.  [/quote]
