At this point I’m assuming there is omicron in every single public place and we will almost certainly catch it in the next 2-3 weeks. We may or may not notice we have it when that happens.
This is me. I don’t expect to make it to February without it. So not changing my behavior since it won’t affect end results. We are vaccinated and boosted as eligible, so we have done what we can.
+1 I figure we are all getting it at some point. Time to move on.
This has always been the case. Eradicating Covid was a pipe dream at else. All you can do is prepare for the inevitable infection. Get vaccinated. If you are old, overweight, or have pre-existing conditions, get boosted. For many this will be their first infection, and they can expect to be infected throughout their lives.
Same, but my behavior has been reasonably cautious. I don’t go out to eat regularly or get together with large groups of people indoors. But I’m all for kids being in school, I swim laps indoors a few times/week, we hang out with one or two families, etc. DH and I are boosted and the kids were recently fully vaccinated. There’s converging data now showing that Omicron is more mild than Delta, so I don’t see how it’s worth panicking about, as an individual. (I fully get the strain on our healthcare system, and think it’s unconscionable to be unvaccinated at this point. If you’re not vaccinated and get sick, I don’t think you have the right to demand priority medical care.)
