They show DC area folks as well.
People do not make salaries over 300k, but total compensation can be way above that with the stock.
All the big tech names are where you should be looking.

Even with the big government contractors you will top out around 200k for salary. For total compensation, it can go higher depending on what their 401k match is and how much overtime you can charge.

From some of the other commenters, it sounds like they are talking about salary only. Sr software engineer has a wide range. 140k is on the low end of the range.  
Even if you look at the West Coast jobs, the salaries are generally not over 200k. People are making the big money from stocks and bonuses.[/quote]
