I actually really like Charles Allen and think he is a nice guy and effective councilmember. He's also pretty smart and not batshit crazy, so that puts him out ahead of 75% of the council. That said, I think he will start to feel the tide turning in W6 in terms of safety being the overriding priority of his voter basis if violent crime keeps ticking up. He got caught off guard by the flip against the WTU/school closures when people got fed up, but he caught up quickly and flipped sides... I think he'll do the same here. He has pretty good political instincts.
Same here. I think he is paying attention.
I agree with this assessment of him. But also agree with the assessment that he has supported some very pro-criminal bills, pro catch-and-release, and will not vote for him again if he does not knock it off. I haven't been a donor to politicians before, but I would donate to a serious primary contender who had a plan to address the violence and keep violent offenders from being released. I fear that too many other members of the council are also pro-criminal for a different W6 member to effect change.
