I do understand the resentment others feel because so many families, like you, think FA is a right. But, why stop at thinking your child deserves the same education that others receive? Why not go to a Mercedes dealer and ask for a discount because other DCs are “afforded” one. Why not go to a realtor and ask for a discount on a house because other DCs are “afforded” a large house? Good public education is a right. Private education is not a right. The reason why we are "afforded" the education is because we can afford it.
If you went to a Mercedes dealer and bought a car under the condition that you let someone who has no car but needs a car to get work use it, would you still buy it? Would you buy a large house under the condition that you have to let a child who has inadequate heat and running water, take a bath and sleep in it on cold and rainy days? If the answer is no, then don't send your kid to a school where part of the tuition you pay goes to helping a family with financial need to get the education. Stop complaining about it.
