We took you her kids 7, 10, 12 thinking it was Marvel-esque. Kids hated it. It was definitely more adult themed than all prior ones. DH hated it. We’d always enjoyed the lack of sex scenes in (recent) Marvel movies so this was a departure. As to characters, I thought Cersei was flat and uninspiring. Overall, it was meh. Wish I’d read more reviews before taking kids bc in retrospect I wouldn’t have taken them. Oh well. Hope Spider-Man in December will be better
Ugh, there’s a sex scene? Disappointing MCU is now going that route. But, also disappointing they’re now producing terrible films as easy money grabs. Hopefully they learn their lesson.
The sex scene is part of a montage showing two characters falling in love, with a brief allusion to lovemaking (him on top of her, professing love for each other). Maybe 5 secs, not remotely graphic.
It was longer than 5 seconds for sure. Maybe 30, if not a minute. Both characters topless, man on top of woman so as to cover her, but it was accompanied by the movements and noises. For adults, no big deal but for little ones totally inappropriate. Yes, it’s PG13 but all MCU have been without much issues for smaller kids. While Iron man did have a one night stand scene, that was an outlier. There is also a same sex couple (one of eternals) with family. No big deal. But same sex kissing did have to be explained to my littlest as she was confused. My DH was not happy bc he had not realized we’d be explaining so many adult topics after film. So I wouldn’t recommend for young kids. This movie seemed to want to tick off every conceivable representation box with a lot of themes. We were just looking for Avengers. That wasn’t it at all
Any kid out of preschool should know same sex couples exist
You missed the point entirely. Same sex family living together was not a big deal at all. Overtly gratuitous kissing and sex scenes not appropriate for kids. Got it? Good. Eternals is a different Marvel movie. They want to walk away from the mold, fine, but I imagine audience will shift, too. MCU no longer for families. That’s the update
PG-13 movies aren't made for little kids
