We had a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee (not L edition) AWD rental for 2 weeks this summer while our car was getting bodywork. That thing drank the gas in all types of driving situations. We did a 5 hour, 300 mile road trip one weekend where we had to fill up the tank 7 times!!! We started out on full (1st filling), had to get gas during the trip when we dipped to near 1/4 tank (filling 2), once we made it to our destination we had to get gas the next morning b/c we were again at 1/4 tank (filling 3), did local site seeing for 2 days and had to fill up again (filling 4), we topped it off before we left time (filling 5), had to stop for gas again during the trip home (filling 6), and then topped it off once back home to be ready for the workweek (lucky #7). This is a trip we make every summer to visit relatives and we have NEVER had to stop for gas on the way there or home like with that car. We had considered a Jeep before that experience. I could sit in traffic around here and watch the indicator dip as it drank the gas.
I’m calling BS. By your numbers, 5 fill ups at a 3/4 fill, my calculations would suggest you’re getting something like 4 mpg. A quart of fuel every 5,280 feet. I just don’t believe that.
