I like the glass subway tile, but not the color.  I just did it in my kitchen, which looks similar to this pic.  I put it in a vertical stack though, not the traditional pattern.  The nice thing about white glass subway tile is that it really lightens a space, and reflects light.

NP - and I LOVE that.

OP - we have a tiny kitchen in a MCM ranch house (that's been, let's say, "eclectically" updated since it was born). We got high gloss white cabinets - top and bottom - and used a bright pool tile for our backsplash. It makes the kitchen feel bigger. I'd wanted to use wood, but my husband for some reason decided he hated wood, so these high gloss cabinets were our compromise. They are very easy to keep clean and do seem to fit both our eclectic house and the MCM bones.

I love the green glass tile you posted. Seems like if you decide you hate them when it's time to sell, that's an easy enough swap.[/quote]

Thanks PP! We could be neighbors. 😂 I definitely want to use something reflective which was why I liked the glass tile but could consider glossy cabinets too (instead of?). I am always afraid to go TOO MCM with our house because it isn’t true MCM with high ceilings and big windows. It was just built in the 50s!

I don’t know why I can’t post images. It’s adding something to the jpg text line. The below aesthetic is my guess on the original kitchen. More Leave It To Beaver than Palm Springs Eichler.

I am the PP and I have a soft spot for those metal cabinets!

Our cabinets are like this (not Ikea but they look similar):

We got pulls that I think nod to MCM without being costumey:

And then we got a terrazzo-like counter (that I love - I'm iffy on the cabinets, I think they were our best compromise, but I would have loved wood; the countertops are stunning and I love them):

We are super casual people, and we put in this kitchen for ourselves - we weren't thinking of resale value. But I do feel like it all works well in a tiny ranch house kitchen - it seems like it fits here, gives some brightness and light, and is cheerful.

I'm the PP who posted the walnut MCM kitchen above (which is close to what I have).  Sounds like your kitchen turned out nicely, I love the terrazzo!  I almost did white lacquer cabinets, but since I have big south facing windows thought I might blind myself.  :)  OP, I think white lacquer could also be a good choice for your kitchen.  EIther the warm wood or white lacquer will look nice, IMO.  Keep it fairly simple in a small space would be my suggestion.  Which it sounds like you will.  Keep us posted![/quote]
