Depending on your head shape it can look good at the nape of the neck, though this doesn't work for me. I look best with hit basically on the top of my head.

Also ir helps to do the whole thing upside down because then you can skip the brush and maintain your texture. just finger come it into the pony tail and roll it into the sock or whatever you are using before lifting your head back up. I think this keeps it from looking unkempt without requiring brushing or product.[/quote]
