Are tall kids disqualified? [/quote] Yes, the casting requirements have height maximums -- no taller than 4'8" for X role, for example. Because they want the kids to look like kids onstage, as compared to the professional dancers onstage. On the whole, smaller is better. And my DD, age 11 is going through a growth spurt, and will possibly be too tall for any role next year. I believe they relaxed the height requirements this year because they are only taking 12+ kids, but if things settle down next year, they will likely go back to the old requirements. Younger and smaller and cute is the goal. This is not Washington Ballet, btw. A different production.[/quote]
