PP from above. One more thing to mention: MCPS can't have it both ways. Parents who are involved in their kids education are a giant part of the reason that test scores are high in this county. So some administrators want their cake and eat it too. Parents who can reinforce lessons at home thus helping increase scores on the MSA and all the other tests and who also donate money to buy Prometheum boards etc are expected to do their part in educating the kids, reflecting well on the school, and then they are expected to shut up and not ask any questions at all. That doesn't seem too realistic. If administrators want uninvolved parents, there are schools in the country that will provide that environment and they should seek out those career opportunities if they think that will be easier. The whole "parents in MoCo are a bunch of PITAs" attitude is a lazy cop out stance in my view. If you're competent, you should be more than capable of explaining your philosophy, the curriculum changes, your goals for all students, etc to the parents and including them as partners in the education of their own kids.
You turned me off right here. The parents who are not involved are working 2-3 jobs to make ends meet. Sadly, you are viewing education through one narrow lens, as this really is a two-tiered system of the Haves and Have Nots. You clearly are a Have. Until you can feel compassion for those who are needy, who come to school hungry and tired, I can't begin to see your side b/c your rants are pathetic. Put yourself in an administrator's shoes for a second. Do you really think many of them have easy jobs trying to close the gap while catering to your needs? Signed, a teacher in one of "those schools"
