I don't remember if they charged for plastic before plastic bags were banned.[/quote] i think there was a bit of time where folks were charged a nickel/bag, then boom gone. well, there was a short hiatus during covid, but now back. i live in nyc. fwiw, i just returned from my ILs with 20 grocery store plastic bags. we use them for our smaller trash cans. i don't miss the pollution, but do miss the convenience.[/quote]
