Do kids normally get told why their teacher is out sick? I feel like it’d be really awkward to tell a room of 11-13 year olds your teacher has diarrhea or something. Like how crazy would it be for my principal to tell my kids I was out having fertility treatments? I didn’t even tell her why I was out![/quote]

They will get the letter if that’s the case. The PP was acting like kids were in crisis mode because their teacher wasn’t there and didn’t know why (they are out sick, obviously). I don’t think you give middle schoolers enough credit. Yes they may worry about COVID but if it’s covid they will be notified if they are a close contact. [/quote]
