OP, keeping your kid enrolled when she was not attending was mildly unethical and you know it. That's why you are so defensive. It's not a huge deal, other people also did it, but it wasn't 100 percent an honorable thing to do. That's why you are here looking for support -- to make yourself feel better about an iffy decision. Fwiw, I have a son who did prek 3 at a DCPS last year. The virtual classes were somewhat painful but we did them every day, he grew connected to his teacher, he did some projects he is really proud of, and i was extremely impressed with the patience and creativity of the teachers. Then he did get an in-person spot and it was 100 times better, or course.
OP here. I forgot before I posted what DCUM is like. We were at a Title I EOTR school with no waitlist last year. People on here think what I did was “unethical” because they are imagining that a took a spot from another child at the kind of school you all would like to send your kids to. In reality, I took nothing from anyone, but my child was deprived of a year of PK and our family of a year of childcare. And we’re far from alone. But you are all to myopic to imagine such a thing— you assume I robbed some poor while child of a bilingual Montessori spot at one of your coveted schools. But y’all keep on being you.
+1
