Buy a set of bunk beds. For right now, set up nursery in one room, bunks in another. Baby goes into nursery, older kids enjoy the bunks. Once baby is ready for a bed (2-3 years from now), your then-11 year old girl will love getting her own room, and the then-6 yo will be ready to take the top bunk with his younger sibling on the bottom. If your youngest turns out to be a climbing daredevil, unbunk the beds for a bit.
This! I wouldn’t even consider any other arrangement right now
This is also what I would do.
+3 Me too. But I would also keep open the possibility that if new baby is a girl and you stay in a 3 bedroom long term, the girls may need to share instead.
-1 I wouldn’t expect my tween daughter to share a bedroom with her younger brother—and I have a girl (9) and two boys (7 and 5). I might do this scenario, but only for another year or so, and then put the youngest two together. Or, keep the baby in your room longer and let the older two stay apart. Trust me, if your oldest is still a poor sleeper at age 8, you do not want to deal with a sleep deprived older kid *and* a newborn. Shudder.
