Family history of early labor. My mother nearly gave birth to me at 5 months, but with progesterone injections managed to hold on until 38 weeks. When I mentioned this to my OB, they did not see a reason to give me the same injections for my first pregnancy, and DC was born at 32 weeks, with lifelong consequences. I insisted on the progesterone injections for my second pregnancy, and will warn my DD that she might face the same challenges if she gets pregnant. Best of luck to you, OP.
Wow, that's early! So it's true what I read, that if your mom or even your baby's dad's mom had early labors, you are more likely too!
I've heard the thing about your mom's labor being a factor (maternal grandmother), but never that the paternal grandmother's labor should be considered.
The thing is that you just don't know because their dates aren't as accurate as our dates are now. My MIL thinks DH was 3 weeks late, but I just don't believe it. I was late too but my mom only had one baby, so it's hard to know if others would have been late. Maternal grandma had babies early that just "fell out." My mom's labor was 30+ hours and then she just decided she'd had enough and had a c section. My 3 labors were all 35-45 hours of induction at 41 weeks. I think that paternal grandma's genes and labors should be taken into account. My family all had small/normal 7lbers. DH's family had HUGE babies and so did I, even though physically I'm petite and should have had small babies.
