The other parent from Chesterbrook who commented (01/04/2012 18:46 poster) is correct. Both my kids tested into AAP but we decided to stay at Chesterbrook for the local level IV services. I think the AAP services at Haycock are likely better but Chesterbrook offers many of the same after school programs (e.g., math olympiads, chess club, afterschool science enrichment). But the vast majority of the students who get accepted into AAP stay at Chesterbrook. Personally, I think school is more than just book learning. The social aspect is just as important and since 25-35 students at each grade level at Chesterbrook make it into AAP remaining at their base school with your friends pushes the decision to stay. If only a few students made it into AAP at Chesterbrook, then we would have sent our kids to Haycock. Oh, Chesterbrook also has an AAP math teacher who is amazing (she teaches all the AAP math classes for all grades).
With 25-35 AAP kids per grade level, aren't they stuck with the same group of kids for 4 years? Haycock has anywhere from 3-5 classes of AAP kids per grade level. I think I would have to pick that for the social aspects alone.
