I often think they don’t take high school scheduling into account when they make the calendar.  Ending the semester at winter break is always a good stopping point, especially for midterms or finals (depending on scheduling).  It also would mean more instructional time before the AP exams.  And as another PP mentioned, many internships/pre-college programs/travel programs happen before the school year ends.  Lots of high school kids just miss the last week or two because they don’t want to miss those opportunities.  And DCPS should encourage these kids to take these opportunities by adjusting the calendar.[/quote]
