My coworker shared the list with me. She is from the area and a foodie. We loved Pamelas in Milvale and Gauchos. Breakfast: Pamela’s Diner DeLuca’s Coco’s Café Square Café Ritter’s Diner Lunch/Dinner: Gaucho Parilla Argentina Noodlehead Sienna Mercato Tessaro’s Altius Chengdu Gourmet Pizza: Mineo’s, Aiello’s, Enrico Biscotti Co., Fiori’s Bars: Anywhere in Lawrenceville Bar Marco Sweets: Prantls Bakery Oakmont Bakery Jean-Marc Chatellier’s Bakery in Millvale
I'm the pp who said not to eat at Primanti's. This is a very good list. I would not eat at any of the pizza places. I was not impressed with the DC pizza when I lived there but it makes Pittsburgh pizza look amazing. Pamela's has the best pancakes I've ever had. I have not been to Gaucho yet but my friends rave about it and it is very unique so that would be a good choice. In terms of sweets, the burnt almond torte at Prantl's was voted best cake by someone (I believe Huffington Post). They have mini tortes that just hit the spot. Oakmont Bakery is huge and has everything you can possibly think of but it is outside the city in Oakmont. Prantl's has a location in Market Square and in the Shadyside neighborhood (both in the city). Have fun! Pittsburgh is a great city!
Yeah, couldn't disagree more about pizza. I was recently in Pittsburgh and someone told me to try Fiori's. I am from NYC and routinely eat at all the greats and Fiori's is a good pie for anywhere and better than any pie in DC.
