Bowser and public education leaders in this city failed our kids. It is shameful and disgusting but none of them care. They prioritized making sure people with excess money could eat in restaurants than educating kids. If I could leave DC, I would, because my kids have suffered immensely. I am not turning to the disgusting Republican party - they bare the blame for much of the vaccine hesitancy, the insurrection on Jan. 6, the rise of fascism and acceptance of racism, etc. The list is too long to write here. But I am also not going to give leaders in this city a pass just because they are Democrats. DC leadership - starting with Bowser - has made it clear that they do not give a damn about the welfare or education of the next generation. I have no faith in them keeping the schools open and safe in this upcoming school year and my kids will continue to suffer and lag behind their peers in other major cities (like NYC - which is also run by Dems) that have led the way and stood the ground on behalf of kids who need to be educated in public schools. What happened here sickens me and while I am a life-long supporter of unions, I certainly do not support the WTU and blame them, too.
