Lots of issues are at play, but guns are probably the biggest issue.

I am all fir taking guns away but DC has a strong gun control law and a huge rate of gun usage in crime.  You can control guns until there are nine but how do you make the lives better for people who get guns easily despite gun control.   If you have nothing to live for it is easy to kill [/quote]

Exactly. If 99.99% of gun owners were responsible, that implies there are only 33,000 irresponsible gun owners in the entire country. Shoot, there are probably 33,000 irresponsible gun owners in DC alone.[/quote]
