I have to agree with this pp (obviously being the "Devil's Advocate").  Is this the first party SIL has ever thrown?  Maybe the first house?  I know people will say "well, she's BEEN to parties so she knows what is expected", but maybe she thought it was WAY easier than it looked (kudos to the OP).    Yes, it's extreme, but have you taken into account if she actually [i]tried[/i], or are you just assuming she was just trying to show off that shiny new house?

You people..... :evil: no this was not her first party.  She is 44 years old and she throws wonderful parties for her dear friends all the time.  She did not try, she was just doing it so that she had a reason to have people over to show off her house.  It is not the first giant house she has owned either.  She is extremely wealthy and she knows how to entertain.  She is just stingy and worried about her new floors.  Nice try on trying to put yourself into her shoes, but not quite accurate.  SIL is very snooty and most likely dreaded having us there in the first place.  Did you even read the original post?  I offered to help, I brought beverages THAT SHE HID, and I appreciated her giving the kids  toys.  We did not give her the stinkeye, more like we tried to have fun while she made us feel uncomfortable.  She did not have apps, and as for ice cream being her favorite dessert  :roll:.  She just wanted to save her money and her house for more important people, not her family.  And I hardly doubt she spent all day getting it ready.  You are funny though PP, you need to put that psychic ability to good use. :lol:[/quote]
