We have been happy at Barnard for preschool the last two years. It's at 4th and Decatur NW. Good principal, teachers and facility, I recommend a visit for one of their open houses every Thursday morning during the school year. The test scores could be better, there are a lot of Title 1 kids, but they beat a lot of schools mentioned in this forum and my DC is reading 2 levels ahead of her grade. They added a Spanish specials teacher for 1X weekly lessons in Pre-K this year and their autism and ESL programs are well regarded. We have lost a couple of playmates to other schools like Yu Ying and Hearst but so far we think we could stay there at least up to 4th grade.
We have friends who are happy at Stokes, the commute to Yu Ying and Stokes is not too bad if you drive and take Harewood across.
If you are considering daycares and private preschools as well look at Rosemont in Mt. Pleasant and Kids Corner on California Street, both have Spanish programs for English speakers. There is a very nice daycare on 17th and O (First Baptist Child Development Center) if that is convenient for your work. 
We know people who have a child at Bright Start Child Care on Kennedy St., honestly I was iffy on the location because of my perception of a drug market on Kennedy Street but apparently the daycare is very good.
