Yes, and its awful. If your kid is good at math and does poorly on one test at the end of fifth grade the middle school math lead and counselors will put them in a not-challenging math class and good luck getting it changed. I had to go down to the school and argue in person with the math lead for both my kids to get them out of basic sixth grade math and into the pre-algebra track and they had been on the Math Dice team, done math in the Hopkins CTY program in the summers, always been in advanced math group in elementary, etc. [/quote]
