The club can easily recoup its lost revenue through many different ways, such as by bumping up a lower team player and filling that lower team slot with another player who wants to sign up. In fact, unless there's some sort of liquidated damages clause in the contract (and likely even then) the club has an obligation to mitigate damages, such as by accepting applications for players who want to join late, etc. While some might criticize this as sharp practice on behalf of the player, I agree that this problem is the fault of the clubs all staggering their tryouts at different times, giving parents very little time to make a decision, and not releasing all the details (e.g. practice schedules/locations) ahead of time. So don't feel bad for the clubs.[/quote]
