Starting a new job in the Research Triangle area and will need an after school helper to pick kid up from school, make sure kid does homework before dinner, and take to after school activities. Would like for this person to make dinner for the week and also do kid laundry, grocery shop when needed, and occasional errands. Will have a separate house cleaner. How much to offer and by the hour or by the week?
BC you are asking for someone to work only 3-6 for 22/hr at 3 hours per day for 5 days. Without taxes thats 330/week or 1320/mo so maybe 1k after taxes?. That isnt enough to live off of in the triangle especially since housing costs have increased by 25%. They cant work a normal 9-5 and they cant work a second shift which is normally 3-11. You would be looking for someone who works a 7-7 and theyd be driving your kids after less than 6 hours a week. A college student may be worthwhile but college classes arent predictable with scheduling and theyd make more money bartending or waiting tables, which is more amenable to their lifestyle. Also the type of individual who would be responsible enough for these projects/scope of work isnt normally a college kid and likely needs more than 1k/mo. THINK.
