Have you thought of just putting shorts and t-shirt? Why does she need to wear a dress?
 I don't think OP said the kid *needs* to wear a dress. Personally my 2 year old asks for dresses because she likes mine. I wear them because they are comfortable.
But you don’t play on a playground for two hours daily. Pp is right. Shorts and tees on girls. Dress is just vanity imposed by society. Give her functional clothes!
My oldest daughter would only wear the most cotton play dresses from Hannah Anderson or lands end with shorts underneath. My second daughter would only wear tees and soccer shorts. Kids have different preferences, much like adults. I was just bummed because I saved all those play dresses to hand down for nothing! The bike shorts also keep stuff like mulch from getting in their underwear when they sit and play in the playground.
+1 Kids want different things. Not all preferences are imposed by society. To answer OP, mine likes to wear her older brother's old boxers under her dresses. So it's pink flowers on top, dinos underneath. Ha!
